4 x 1-2-3 System Chair by Verner Panton for Fritz Hansen

Designed by Verner Panton in 1973 for Fritz Hansen, the 1-2-3 System Chair is a radical departure from traditional furniture, utilising a continuous, sculptural silhouette to redefine seating. The chair's internal structure consists of a bent steel tube frame that creates its iconic, undulating "S" shape, designed to provide a natural, ergonomic spring.

This set is upholstered in a tightly tailored brown leather, which emphasises the chair’s fluid lines and bold, space-age aesthetic. A key design feature is the swivel trumpet base, crafted from brushed or polished aluminum, which provides a sleek, industrial contrast to the vibrant fabric while allowing for 360° movement. By eliminating traditional legs and visible joints, Panton created a visually "liquid" form that remains one of the most recognisable examples of late mid-century pop-modernism.
