This Model 227 dining table, designed by Arne Vodder for Sibast Furniture, is a masterclass in mid-century Danish versatility and material luxury. Crafted from rich rosewood, the table showcases a deep, dramatic grain across its expansive rectangular top, providing a warm and sophisticated focal point.
Its most ingenious design feature is the drop-leaf system, which utilises two rounded, semi-circular leaves at either end that can be lowered to save space or raised to significantly extend the dining surface. These circular leaves are held on by brass hardware and can be removed all together and stored seperatly. The table then also features two addtitional rectangular leaves which can be added to the table to once again extend the piece.
The table is supported by an elegant frame with slender, tapered legs that are set inset from the corners. With its seamless joinery and refined, organic silhouette, this piece embodies the functional elegance that defined Vodder’s contribution to the golden age of Scandinavian design. A compact size when collapsed, this piece offers functionality and versatility, making it the perfect table for any space.
