Johannes Andersen Extendable Rosewood Coffee Table

This Danish coffee table was designed by Johannes Andersen for Uldum Møbelfabrik in the 1960s. It is a wonderful piece made from rosewood, it has curved, exposed, tapered legs fixed to the side of the table top. The curved lines seen in the legs extend throughout the design, with the rounded edges of the tabletop.

The most interesting aspect of this piece are the concealed extendable side panels on either end, one is a flat extendable leaf while the other boasts a drawer with two compartments. The magnificent craftsmanship of this piece can be seen in the seamless construction of these side panels, from their smooth and functional movement to their flush finish when they are closed.
