Still Life Painting

This painting is an excellent still life piece using a mixture of gorgeously rich muted tones to create the background and majority of the foreground with a contrasting pop of bright colour from the study of the books. In keeping with traditional still life depictions, the detail of this piece is focused on the subject matter, with the background comprising of looser and larger brushstrokes. 

The painting is set in a slim simple darker pine frame which compliments the wood tones in the lute and chairs featured within the painting itself.
